About Me.

Hello, my name is Sophia Grande, and I recently graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Digital Media. Since completing my studies, I have been working as a digital communications intern at the headquarters of the National Park Service in Washington, DC.

 

At the University of Maryland, I focused on Communication and Media Studies, and I had the opportunity to serve as the CSEF Digital & Social Media Intern at The Universities at Shady Grove during my final two semesters. Additionally, I gained valuable experience as a Communications & Programs Intern for the National Park Trust. Before these internships, I participated in the Latino Heritage Internship Program for the National Parks of Boston as a Digital Youth Engagement Design Intern during the summer months.

 

My academic and personal journey has been fulfilling and has brought me to where I am today. I began my post-secondary education at Montgomery College, where I earned an Associate of Arts degree in Communication in 2021. It was during my time at Montgomery College that I explored various courses, including News Writing and Journalism, Public Relations, and media studies. Through these experiences, I discovered my passion for media studies, honing skills in social media management, professional online presence, and design using tools like Adobe, web design, and film editing.

 

Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, I successfully graduated from Montgomery College and transitioned to the University of Maryland to complete my bachelor's degree. Throughout my final year, I relished in the company of friends and family while dedicating myself to personal projects that would help shape my post-graduation career path.

 

I am excited about the knowledge and skills I have acquired thus far, and I am eager to continue growing and making meaningful contributions to the field of digital communications and media.
